A Sunday Escape in 2020

After a hugely busy week of reopening at the hotel, think water shortage to hotel and surrounding villages, WiFi down, phone systems playing up, I was thrilled to receive a message from @Escapehuntuk inviting Mal & myself to try out a game with them!

We headed down just before 3 to the Brewery Quarter which although still looks very quiet inside was actually quite busy with people passing through. We were instantly greeted and served by a lovely guy who took his time to explain all the safety aspects of the set up and all the covid regulations too. It all felt incredibly safe and we would definitely be able to take the kids no problem.

In the lobby, which is a long grey industrial feeling room, which bright furniture and neon signage. It’s fun and a very cool space, with a glass panel showing the guides all “in game” watching and giving clues out to the escapees.

They had lockers to store valuables when you are in the game and you are asked to leave your phone in it, as of course they don’t want any clues getting snapped and making their way online and spoiling it for someone.

We had chosen to play the “Our Finest Hour” game, based on a war-time spy story. We took a while to warm up but once we did worked really well together! It was slightly frustrating being in a mask, as it was hard to hear each other, and a lot of staring at ’fine print’ writing - frustrating for me, as Mal didnt have his glasses so I was reading AND deciphering all the hard bits. We didn’t make it out - BUT we also didn’t kill each other (it was touch and go for a second!)

All in all I would highly recommend, as Mal said, if it was too easy we wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much! It was my first “gifted”/freebie thing that I’ve had, so I was chuffed about, but also delighted that I genuinely loved the experience which makes it easy to recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Let me know if you’re planning to go!?
