Build-a-brunch @ The Botanist

Introducing the newest and definitely most filling brunch around! The Botanist in the Brewery Quarter. I'm sure you've seen it, with its faux hanging plants and huge green feature wall...

We were kindly invited to try out their build-a-brunch in early December, a new concept with customisable elements on a brunch board. Being pretty new to the blogosphere this was my first #gifted meal experience, and as with the escape room, I wanted to document it all properly and correctly for you all, so you can decide if it something you want to try!

I have listed below the categories and elements that my self and Mal chose. I have to say the service was spectacular, and so friendly. We have had a few issues with this in the past so I was really glad they got this right... so even before we had tried anything I was impressed!

Step one - Eggs / tofu

Baked shakshuka with crème fraîche and flatbread

We both loved the sound of this, so ordered it times two. If you follow me on instagram you know I am full on obsessed with baked eggs and so this was a no brainer. When it came i physically had to stop myself pigging out on it all because I wanted to save room to try everything!

Step two - ‘Hearty’

Cumberland sausage wheel and maple streaky bacon

Pretty standard really, it was nice that they used a thinner sausage (lololol) because it wasn't as much to each, the bacon was nice with a maple glaze, but it was probably the most 'boring' part of the board!

Step three - Bakery

Warm Croissant with strawberry jam

{Mal had the Japapeno corn bread which was dribble-worthy)

A lovely croissant, fresh and light with a nice jam. I lef this till last because I wanted to try all the other bits and bobs first!

Step four - Fruits / Grains

Passion fruit and coconut chia yoghurt pot

This one surprised me, Im not normally a fruit and yoghurt kind of person, but actually it was very fresh and sweet! In contrast with the sour passion fruit it worked really well and the chai seeds in the yoghurt created a texture I can only describe as 'like frogspawn'. {When I exclaimed this, Mal then decided he didn't want to try any, muttering things like how on earth did they invite you here to review food tsk tsk.... !!}

Step five - Sweet

Dark chocolate and peanut butter pot

Holy mother of peanuts! This was the bomb, the shit, the bees knees! It was the most insane dessert/breakfast item I have ever eaten. We also saw about 4 or 5 other tables {of blogger} have exactly the same reaction! Its a mini version of a desert they serve normally so you may well have tried it, but bloody hell if you haven't, you need to. Its like a peanut butter and choc protein ball married a gu pudding....

Step six - Juice boost

Red - blueberry, pink grapefruit, apple, beetroot and black pepper

Gone in a flash and very zingy. A nice way to include a little drink but definitely not enough to substitute one.

So then... of course coffee! ☕️

All in all for £15 ! You get a hell of a brunch!! It was way too much for me to finish, and set me up for a full day of work (didn't eat again until 10:30pm!)

I would definite recommend checking them out, especially as they do a 'bottom-less' version of it and it would be perfect for a Sunday activity with the girls, or even after a big night out. To be honest, I'm going back just for that peanut butter pot!
